Nesbitt applauds House for moving fix to save tip credit, jobs

LANSING, Mich. — Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt, R-Porter Township, on Thursday issued the following statement after a state House committee voted 14-0 to approve legislation to preserve Michigan’s tip credit system and save thousands of jobs:

“Within just two weeks of taking the majority, Speaker Hall and Rep. Schuette have managed to move forward on a bipartisan solution to protect 50,000 jobs and tipped wages — something Lansing Democrats failed to accomplish in their final six months in power.

“I’m confident that with Republican leadership, Michigan is on the path to prosperity. I look forward to this bill making its way to the Senate and hope that Democrats will do what is right by working together to save Michigan’s threatened hospitality workers.”
