Did you know Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has requested rules that could further weaken Michigan’s election system?
Today, local clerks are responsible for issuing absentee ballots to voters. But Benson wants to create an electronic portal to control this process from Lansing. And instead of your local clerk verifying the identity of voters by matching their signatures on absentee ballots, Benson wants to require clerks to presume signatures are valid.
There is a short window of time for the public to comment on Jocelyn Benson’s proposed rules. If you agree that now is not the time to weaken Michigan’s election system, please share your thoughts below. The feedback you provide, including your name and contact information, will be sent directly to the Department of State on your behalf as a public comment.
Please don’t wait to share your concerns – the public comment period ends October 1!
