LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael Webber on Friday voted for final passage of the state’s fiscal year 2027 budget, sending the spending plan to the governor for her signature.
“I was proud to support a balanced, bipartisan budget that lives within our means while making critical investments that strengthen Michigan families and communities,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “As many Michigan families and small businesses are taking a tough look at their budgets, state leaders should do the same. By finding efficiencies and cutting wasteful spending, we were able to prioritize stronger schools, safer roads and the services our communities rely on — all without raising taxes or relying on the state’s rainy day fund.”
Webber also highlighted investments that would benefit communities throughout the 9th Senate District, including:
- $3.73 million for the city of Utica water main replacement projects.
- $500,000 for Chaldean Community Foundation education programs.
- $500,000 for the Autism Alliance Navigator Program.
- $2 million for the Detroit Auto Show to provide economic reinvestment by hosting the North American International Auto Show.
- $405,000 for the Common Ground Crisis Center to support free mental health services
- $1.4 million for Rochester Community House expansion and renovation — saving Rochester residents from having to bond for this project.
- Construction authorization for Oakland University’s science complex renovation project.
The 9th Senate District includes the Greater Rochester Area, along with the cities of Troy, Sterling Heights and Utica, and portions of Oakland and Shelby townships.
