Victory cancels coffee hours, town hall due to COVID-19

LANSING, Mich.Sen. Roger Victory has announced that his March district coffee hours and upcoming March 23 town hall meeting are being canceled in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Gov. Whitmer recently announced the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan. In an effort to slow the spread of the virus, the governor has declared a state of emergency and closed all school buildings from March 16 through at least April 5.

“Our goal is to provide the good people of Ottawa County with chances to meet with me in person, but the safety of our residents must come first,” said Victory, R-Hudsonville. “To assist our state’s preventive efforts and to help reduce the risk of folks getting and spreading this virus, our office will suspend all in-person constituent events at this time. This starts with canceling our scheduled March coffee hours and Spring Lake town hall meeting.”

Victory’s canceled events include a March 23 town hall at the Spring Lake District Library and coffee hours on March 16 at deBoer’s Bakery in Holland, March 20 at Pine Street Cafe in Ferrysburg, March 21 at Sprinkles Donut Shop in Hudsonville, and March 23 at Murphy’s Family Restaurant in Allendale.
