Sen. Runestad will host town hall on property tax appeal

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Jim Runestad, R-White Lake, on Monday invited homeowners to learn more about property tax assessments and how to appeal them during a town hall forum that he will host from on Feb. 28 at the Commerce Township Hall.

The town hall will take place at the follow date, time, and location:

Tuesday, Feb 28
6:30 – 7 p.m.
Commerce Township Hall
2009 Township Drive
Commerce Township

“Owning a new home is an exciting life achievement. However, homeowners are often shocked when they receive their first property tax bill,” said Runestad, R-White Lake. “This important event will help homeowners better understand taxable value and State Equalized Value and how these calculations affect property taxes. Participants will also be provided with information about how to make and appeal to the local board of review and, possibly, the Michigan Tax Tribunal.”

For more information, please contact Runestad’s office toll-free at 1-855-347-8023 or by email at [email protected].
