Brief:
Several years ago, families across Michigan and the U.S. became aware of “forever chemicals” known as perfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, as they were discovered in dozens of groundwater systems.

A lack of information and testing has created further fear for parents, who are worried about the long-term health effects of these chemicals on their kids.

After working with impacted families and medical experts, Huizenga put together legislation to provide a state-provided study to monitor the levels of PFAS in the blood of affected children.
