Lindsey appalled by reports of an illegal immigrant sexually assaulting minors in district

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jonathan Lindsey, R-Allen, issued the following statement after reports that local, state and federal law enforcement agencies arrested an undocumented migrant from Mexico for allegedly assaulting two girls during a home invasion in Sturgis:

“My prayers remain with these young girls and their family and others who have been affected by this crisis — and I commend our law enforcement offices for their diligence in capturing this man.

“President Joe Biden’s border crisis is putting people from every corner of this country at risk.

“These repeated tragedies could have all been prevented, and as the president continues to turn a blind eye to crime associated with illegal immigrants coming across our southern border, these preventable crimes are becoming more frequent across the United States — and unfortunately, are now hitting home for Michigan residents.

“Michiganders are paying the price for the turmoil at the southern border and the inability of our president and governor to take this issue seriously puts even more people at risk. President Biden is completely absent, and Gov. Whitmer refuses to acknowledge the severity of this issue. Instead of fighting for the people of this state, she is spending her time out of state promoting abortion and posting about her new book deal. It’s an unconceivable dereliction of duty and Michigan residents are paying the price.

“I will continue fighting to reverse the path we are on and pushing my colleagues in the Legislature to do everything we can to shield our state from more of these tragedies.”
