Daley, Green host discussion with local leaders at Caro Center

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kevin Daley and Rep. Phil Green hosted a meeting with community leaders and representatives from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Monday morning to continue the ongoing discussions surrounding the Caro Center.

“I think everyone did a great job of showing just how important this hospital is to this community and how good of care this hospital provides to patients,” said Daley, R-Lum. “We didn’t get a lot of answers, but Tuscola County should be proud of how they have rallied together on this critical issue.”

Officials from the department agreed to come visit the Caro Center and speak directly to their decision to halt the previously promised renovations to the hospital.

The meeting was not open to the public, though Daley has set up a short survey on his website to ensure area residents have an opportunity to make their voices heard. The survey can be found by clicking here, or at the following link: www.SenatorKevinDaley.com/survey/

“We currently have a psychiatric bed shortage in Michigan and right now employees at the Caro Center are ready to go to work,” Daley said. “I encourage the governor to keep promises made to Tuscola County and resume the Caro Center renovations as planned so we can start helping people who need access to critical mental health services as soon as possible.”
