LANSING, Mich. — Senate Appropriations Minority Vice Chair Jon Bumstead, R-Norton Shores, issued the following statement after the Michigan Legislature finalized a fiscal year 2027 budget plan:
“We were able to come together in a bipartisan manner on a responsible spending plan that lives within our means while funding key priorities to make positive impacts in the lives of all Michigan residents, like improving our roads and keeping our communities safe.
“This budget focuses on providing essential services and helping more children succeed in school — and does so without asking hardworking families to shoulder the burden of higher taxes or raiding the budget stabilization fund meant to protect us from unexpected economic challenges.”
