LANSING, Mich. — Senate Appropriations Minority Vice Chair Jon Bumstead, R-Norton Shores, released the following statement after state fiscal and economic leaders made their economic and state tax revenue projections during Friday’s annual January Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference:
“As we start the budget process, our focus should be on how best to invest in shared priorities that are most impactful for our residents — like improving education, infrastructure and public safety — while also providing meaningful relief to families struggling to make ends meet.
“We owe it to the people of Michigan to be responsible with their tax dollars. Given weak revenue projections for the next few years, we must be especially careful with state spending and work together to ensure taxpayer dollars support effective programs and deliver a positive return on investment for all the people of our state.”
