LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mark Huizenga, R-Walker, issued a statement after watching Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 2026 State of the State address Wednesday night.
Below is the text from Huizenga’s audio statement:
“Families are struggling with high food costs, increasing rent and, frankly, nearly everything costs more.
“Lowering costs for Michigan families should be a priority regardless of party. I’m talking about the real relief on the things families feel every day — child care, gas, groceries, property taxes and electric bills.
“By working across the aisle, we must find practical ways to save people money and make life more affordable for kids and families in every community.
“This isn’t just about politics; it’s about problem-solving and creating real solutions that help hardworking people keep more of what they earn.”
