LANSING— State Sen. Mike Nofs, R-Battle Creek, released the following statement Wednesday, after the Michigan Senate finalized a balanced budget plan weeks ahead of schedule:
“I have heard loud and clear from the residents of the 19th District that they expect state government to live within its means, just as they have to. I am pleased to report that today, as promised, I voted to resolve Michigan’s $1.3 billion deficit without raising taxes by enacting much needed reforms and reducing spending.
“This budget reflects Michigan’s economic reality and, even though many of the choices we faced were difficult, it was the right thing to do. I call on my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass a budget that does the same as soon as possible.”
