Sen. MacDonald helps deliver food to health care workers in Macomb County

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael D. MacDonald on Monday helped deliver food donated by Detroit Food Company and Leo’s Coney Island locations in Macomb County to health care workers at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

“This food is a small way to say thank you to our health care workers who are putting in long shifts and working overtime to care for patients during this COVID-19 outbreak and state of emergency,” said MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. “It was great to help show our appreciation, and I want to thank Alicia Addis and Christ Backos from Leo’s Coney Island and Detroit Food Company for their generous donation.”

MacDonald helped deliver the food Monday morning prior to Gov. Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-21, which directs workers to stay home unless they are essential to sustaining or protecting life or to conducting minimum basic operations. Food delivery is still allowed under the order, but visiting hospitals is limited to certain circumstances.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital is now discouraging food donations but donations of personal protection equipment, such as hand sanitizer, gloves and bleach, will be accepted. Residents can call the Public Relations Department for Henry Ford Macomb at 586-263-2890 or visit HenryFord.com/coronavirus.
