Sen. Jim Stamas pays tribute to the late Sen. John Pridnia
LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas joined with Senate colleagues during session on Tuesday to honor and celebrate the service of the late Sen. John Pridnia with Pridnia’s family.
“As the senator of the 36th Senate District where Senator Pridnia served, I wanted to say a couple words recognizing his service to Alpena and the whole 36th Senate District,” said Stamas, R-Midland. “Harrisville is one of the true jewels of our district. As I have toured the district people have continued to bring his name up as I go through the community, and they still recognize his service and the difference that he truly made. I wanted to take a moment to thank him, but also thank his family for his years of service, the true difference he made to the communities in the north and all of Michigan.”
While living in Harrisville, Pridnia served for eight years in the Senate and eight years in the House of Representatives. After leaving the Legislature, Pridnia was active in his new community of Port Austin, where he lived until he died in November.
Participating in the tribute with Stamas were Pridnia’s wife Lisa; sons John and David; daughter-in-laws Michelle and Liana; cousin Stephanie Harrah; Lt. Gov. Brian Calley; Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive; and Sen. Mike Green, R-Mayville.
