LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Rick Outman, R-Six Lakes, issued the following statement after the Senate passed the state’s fiscal year 2026-2027 budget early Friday morning:
“Cutting spending and delivering a product that prioritizes taxpayers was a top priority. Ultimately, we were able to approve a budget that was smaller than last year’s — for the first time in recent memory — and that funds our schools and other priorities without raising taxes or dipping into the state’s savings account.
“The significant reduction in spending and successfully blocking the Democrats’ proposed tax increases led to a more favorable final product that I could support. I hope future budget discussions continue the trend of producing a better value for state taxpayers and providing even more relief for their pocketbooks.”
