MacDonald leads inaugural meeting of the Michigan Legislative Aerospace and Defense Caucus
LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael D. MacDonald on Tuesday led the first meeting of the Michigan Legislative Aerospace and Defense Caucus in Lansing.
“It is an honor to co-chair this bipartisan caucus, which was formed to raise awareness of and promote Michigan’s important role in aerospace and defense issues,” said MacDonald, R-Macomb Township. “The Michigan Launch Initiative and other projects offer exciting opportunities for Macomb County and the entire state.”
The Michigan Launch Initiative (MLI) is a proposed public-private nonprofit entity that would provide a collaborative platform for academia, industry and governmental agencies to provide low Earth orbit and hypersonic launch technology for commercial and defense applications.
The caucus is co-chaired by Rep. Joe Tate, D-Detroit, and enables legislative colleagues and aerospace and defense experts to share their unique perspectives.
Sen. Dale Zorn, R-Ida; Sen. Paul Wojno, D-Warren; and Sen. John Bizon, M.D., R-Battle Creek, also participated in Tuesday’s meeting, which included a presentation on the MLI by IQM Research Institute President and retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Michael Dudzik.
