LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Peter J. Lucido was sworn in as senator of the 8th District on Wednesday during a ceremony at the state Capitol. Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano administered the oath of office.
Lucido was joined in the Senate chamber by his wife Ann Marie; sister Diane Di Ponio and her husband Jake; sister Jenny Laethem and her husband Jim; and sister Antoinette Anderson and her husband Gil.

“It is truly an honor that Macomb County residents have placed their trust in me to serve them in the state Senate,” said Lucido, R-Shelby Township. “Our district, and state, has many opportunities to continue the growth we have seen over the past several years, but we also face challenges that we must work to overcome to make Michigan the best place for families, talent and jobs. I look forward to all we will accomplish together.
“One of my top priorities is to pass additional civil asset forfeiture reforms, and I am pleased my House colleagues have made it a priority as well. I have worked hard on this issue for many years and I look forward to getting something done to ensure property rights are preserved and protected.”
