LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Mark Huizenga joined the Rockford girls soccer team in celebration of their recent state championship victory and presented team members and Coach Stu Quackenbush with a congratulatory state of Michigan tribute commemorating the occasion.
“These ladies made it to the highest level of competition and came out victorious,” said Huizenga, R-Walker. “This is an incredible accomplishment, and I’d like to join the Rockford community in congratulating both the players and coaching staff on a tremendous season.
“This is a memory that will last a lifetime.”
The Rockford High School girls soccer team won the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 state championship in June in a 2-0 victory over Troy. The victory was the first state championship in the program’s history.
