LANSING—Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, welcomes the 2014 Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy girls’ basketball team to the Michigan Senate. The team was recognized by Emmons during session for earning the team’s first ever state title by winning the Michigan High School Athletic Association Class D championship game in March.
“The team’s impressive run to come from behind and claim the championship is a testament to their hard work and commitment to each other,” Emmons said. “With their remarkable success and perseverance this season, these talented athletes have earned the admiration of their families, their school and the entire community.”
The entire team joined Emmons (center right) on the Senate floor as she presented Head Coach Damon Brown (center left) with a tribute recognizing the team’s achievement. The tribute was signed by Emmons, Gov. Rick Snyder and Rep. Kevin Cotter, R-Mt. Pleasant.
