Countryside Academy wins LaSata’s #SWMISpirit tournament
LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Kim LaSata announced on Monday that Countryside Academy, of Benton Harbor, has won the 2021 Southwest Michigan Spirit Tournament.
The Cougars defeated Michigan Lutheran, of St. Joseph, by a score of 3,034 to 2,644 in the final match.
“My congratulations to Countryside Academy for winning this year’s spirit tournament,” said LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “Our Southwest Michigan community came together more than ever to rally around our students and schools after what has been a difficult year spent largely apart from one another because of the pandemic. I thank everyone who participated and look forward to another successful tournament next year.”
The spirit tournament began last month with 31 area high schools competing in four brackets.
Participants competed on facebook.com/SenKimLaSata and by voting in online polls.
