LANSING―State Sen. Tom Casperson today announced he will host a public hearing on July 19 in Quinnesec to discuss the impact of the lack of timber harvest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and communities in northeast Wisconsin.
The event begins at 8 a.m. CDT and will run until 3:30 p.m. CDT. Sen. Casperson, R-Escanaba, and co-host, Wisconsin State Rep. Tom Tiffany, will be joined by special guests, Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek. The group will speak on the topic and hear public testimony.
Paul Van Deusen of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement and John Piotrowski, environmental engineer at Packaging Corporation of America, will speak during the lunch portion.
