Sen. Richardville offers comments on service tax repeal

In response to an agreement between the Michigan Senate, House of Representatives and governor to repeal the use tax on services, Sen. Randy Richardville, R-Monroe, issued the following statement:

"The Michigan Senate successfully negotiated and approved a replacement for the tax on services. I voted yes to replace the ill-conceived, permanent tax with a much less onerous one that will end in 10 years.

"The deal reached by the Senate will help prevent businesses from leaving the state or shutting down. It has support from many business groups and will provide substantial relief for Michigan's job providers."
