Sen. Jansen offers comments on SBT agreement
LANSING - In response to an agreement reached on a replacement for the state's Single Business Tax, Sen. Mark Jansen, R-Gaines Township, a member of the work group, issued the following statement:
"Today we took a giant step toward moving Michigan in the right direction. We were able to put partisan politics aside and do what is best for the state by reaching an agreement on a fair and equitable replacement for the Single Business Tax. We committed to $120 million in tax relief for small businesses, which helps the fastest growing sector of Michigan's economy.
"The plan provides significant personal property tax relief to our state's largest employers and Michigan manufacturers, without unfairly burdening other businesses with huge tax increases. This is a balanced way to replace the SBT."
