Nofs, Richardville announce millions in funding for Jackson Community College
LANSING—State Sen. Mike Nofs and incoming Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville today announced Jackson Community College is to receive $19.5 million to put toward the planning of renovations that will expand the school's Student Services programs and classrooms.
“Now more than ever it is important that our college students receive the best possible education to help them succeed in the 21st century,” said Nofs, R-Battle Creek. “The millions in funding for this project will go a long way to help ensure their success.”
The plan would renovate and expand existing buildings on the school's campus. Bert Walker Hall would be updated to house a growing Foundation Studies program and to serve as the school's new Center for Student Support Services that will be established as a one-stop shop for admissions, counseling, advising and other services. The JCC @ LISD TECH facility would also be expanded under the program to include additional space in all of its academic areas.
“These funds will provide important updates to campus buildings by improving the learning environment for students,” said Richardville, R-Monroe. “Education has always been and continues to be one of my top priorities.”
