Sen. Jansen speaks to Comstock Park students
State Sen. Mark C. Jansen, R-Gaines Township, met with students in Jim Vanden Berg’s U.S. history and government classes at Comstock Park High School on Jan. 7. The students had recently written letters to Jansen to share their opinions about the state budget and other important legislative issues.
Jansen gave a brief introduction and then students had the opportunity to have their questions answered. The hour-long dialogue gave students a better understanding of how their input and participation can impact public policy. It also provided a glimpse into the work of a state senator and the challenges associated with representing the diverse viewpoints of nearly 300,000 constituents.
Comstock Park Public Schools Superintendent Ethan Ebenstein and Comstock Park High School Principal John Kraus also attended the discussion.
