Richardville praises Chryslers plan to create 155 jobs at Dundee plant
LANSING – Sen. Randy Richardville, R-Monroe, today praised Chrysler’s decision to invest $179 million in its Dundee plant to begin building a 1.4 liter 4-cylinder engine for the fuel-efficient Fiat 500 subcompact car.
“This is tremendous news for Dundee and the surrounding communities,” said Richardville, R-Monroe. “I am pleased that Chrysler selected Dundee as the location for building the new engine. There is space available at the plant for increased production, so I am glad that it will be put to use and bring needed jobs to the area.”
The project is expected to create 155 direct jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs at suppliers and support businesses.
“The Fiat 500 represents a great opportunity for the Michigan automotive industry,” Richardville said. “Michigan needs businesses that are willing and able to invest in their operations, especially now during these difficult times because it will help spur local economic growth.”
