Sen. Jansen joins Farmers Insurance to announce 1,600 new jobs

LANSING — State Sen. Mark C. Jansen, R-Gaines Township, joined Farmers Insurance Group earlier today to announce expansion plans for its Caledonia facility and the creation of 1,600 jobs in west Michigan.

“This significant announcement couldn’t have come at a better time,” Jansen said. “With the state’s unemployment rate being the highest it’s been in decades, this is fantastic news for 1,600 families in west Michigan. I was honored to be a part of this important collaborative effort to expand the plant in Caledonia.”

The announcement also included plans to invest about $84 million for the expansion of the Foremost Insurance Company in Caledonia, which is a member of the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies.

According to its Web site, the Los Angeles-based company provides homeowners, auto, business, life insurance and financial services to more than 10 million households.
