Sen. Richardville recognized by Michigan State Medical Society with Legislative Leadership Award

LANSING-Sen. Randy Richardville was recognized Wednesday by the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) with the Legislative Leadership Award for his strong support of health care programs.

“I am honored to receive this award from an association that is dedicated to the well-being of Michigan residents,” said Richardville, R-Monroe.  “The health of our residents is a major issue.  I appreciate the guidance the medical society offers lawmakers as we consider legislation related to health care and medical practices.”

Richardville was recognized at the 2009 MSMS Leadership Summit held at the Lansing Radisson.  He is the first legislator to receive the award.

“The Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors selected Senator Richardville because of his tireless efforts to steward important pieces of legislation through the Michigan Senate,” said Michael Sandler, MD, immediate past president of MSMS.  “He helped with the protection of tort reform, increased regulation of tanning facilities, and making sure education, not legislation, dictates scope of practice.”

The MSMS is the professional association of more than 15,000 physicians in Michigan.
