Richardville supports bill to allow 16-year-olds to donate blood

LANSING – Sen. Randy Richardville, R-Monroe, made the following statement after the Michigan Senate approved legislation Tuesday that would lower the minimum age for an individual to donate blood to 16, with permission of a parent or guardian:

“It’s extremely important for blood centers in Michigan to be able to meet the increasing demand.  This legislation would help meet the demand for blood because it will allow more young adults to become donors.  The House should act on this bill quickly to provide more teenagers in Michigan with the opportunity to help others and help save lives.”
