Sen. Richardville to visit East Jackson Community Schools for Reading Month
LANSING - To continue the celebration of “March is Reading Month,” Sen. Randy Richardville will visit another school in Jackson County.
“Reading is the foundation for success in school and in life,” said Richardville, R-Monroe. “Children who love to read also love to learn. We have to encourage students at an early age that reading is important and also fun.”
On Friday, March 20, Sen. Richardville will visit Memorial Elementary in East Jackson Community Schools. He will read to a group of fifth-grade students beginning at 1 p.m. Richardville visited Townsend Elementary in the Vandercook Lake Public Schools earlier this month.
“The 21st century demands well-educated, highly skilled workers who can learn and adapt throughout their careers,” Richardville said. “Helping students improve their reading ability assists them in developing a skill that will be useful throughout their lives.”
The purpose of “March is Reading Month” is to highlight reading as a fun activity that children and parents can do together, while promoting literacy. To find reading resources, visit www.michigan.gov/mde.
