Sen. Richardville to visit Monroe County elementary schools for Reading Month
LANSING - In celebration of “March is Reading Month,” Sen. Randy Richardville will travel to schools throughout the 17th Senate District to promote the importance of reading.
“Reading is a central part of people’s lives because it’s the foundation for doing well in school and in life,” said Richardville, R-Monroe. “I want to encourage students to read more often and take advantage of this great opportunity to learn and have fun.”
On Friday, March 13, Sen. Richardville will visit Jackman Road Elementary in the Bedford Public Schools. He will read to a group of fourth- and fifth-grade students beginning at 9 a.m.
The senator will also visit Eyler Elementary in the Airport Community Schools on Monday, March 16 at 9 a.m.
“It’s important that children become interested in reading at a young age,” Richardville said. “Teachers and parents can serve a tremendous role in helping students improve their reading ability, which will be useful throughout their entire lives.”
The purpose of “March is Reading Month” is to highlight reading as a fun activity that children and parents can do together, while promoting literacy. To find reading resources, visit www.michigan.gov/mde.
