Richardville welcomes Toyota Technical Center to York Township

LANSING--State Sen. Randy Richardville today congratulated the Toyota Technical Center at the grand opening of the brand-new research facility in York Township.

“With all of the recent negative news about our economy, especially here in Michigan, it’s a welcome change to be celebrating something positive,” Richardville said. “The opening of this state-of-the-art center shows that Michigan remains a viable destination for the auto-manufacturing sector.”

The 700-acre campus will provide as many as 1,100 new jobs to the local community by 2010 and has 530,000 square feet of space to house the engineering and safety testing for Toyota’s North American product division.

“These jobs are highly skilled and represent the future of manufacturing,” said Richardville. “I am grateful to Toyota for continuing their long history of investing in Michigan and for recognizing that this state has the most qualified automobile workforce in the country.”

The technical center in York Township becomes the third facility run by Toyota in the Ann Arbor area since the 1970s.
