Sen. Richardville to celebrate Reading Month in Ann Arbor

LANSING - In celebration of March as Reading Month, Sen. Randy Richardville has traveled to schools throughout the 17th Senate District to promote the importance of reading.  He is concluding the month at an elementary school in Ann Arbor.

“Reading is the foundation for success in school and in life,” said Richardville, R-Monroe.  “Children who love to read also love to learn.  They are often successful in other subjects too, but students who cannot read well are more likely to struggle in school.  We have to encourage students at an early age that reading is important and also fun.”

On Monday, March 31, Sen. Richardville will visit Carpenter Elementary at 9:30 a.m. to read to the students.

“The 21st century demands well-educated, highly skilled workers who can learn and adapt throughout their careers,” Richardville said.  “Helping students improve their reading ability assists them in developing a skill that will be useful throughout their lives.”
