Richardville to visit Milan Elementary School for Reading Month

LANSING - In celebration of March as Reading Month, Sen. Randy Richardville will travel to schools throughout the 17th Senate District to promote the importance of reading.

"Reading is the foundation for success in school and in life," said Richardville, R-Monroe. "Children who love to read also love to learn. They are often successful in other subjects too, but students who cannot read well are more likely to struggle in school. We have to encourage students at an early age that reading is important and also fun."

On Friday, March 7, Sen. Richardville will visit Symons Elementary School in Milan to discuss reading and state government with third, fourth and fifth graders.

"The 21st century demands well-educated, highly skilled workers who are able to learn and adapt throughout their careers," Richardville said. "Helping students improve their reading ability assists them in developing a skill that will be useful throughout their entire lives."
