LANSING— Senator-elect Dave Robertson, R-Grand Blanc Township, will chair a key committee and serve as vice chair on another during his first term, beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
Senate Majority Leader-elect Randy Richardville appointed Robertson to chair the Senate Committee on Local Government & Elections.
“It is a privilege to chair this vital committee,” Robertson said. “To turn Michigan’s economy around and get our state back on track, we need to ensure that local governments and elections are operating effectively.
“I look forward to working with local governments in striving for greater efficiency and effectiveness in serving the people of Michigan. The integrity of and public confidence in our elections must also be safeguarded.”
Robertson also has been tapped by Richardville to be vice chair of the Senate Committee on Health Policy. In addition, Robertson will serve as a member of the Finance (Tax Policy) Committee, Insurance Committee, and Reform, Restructure and Reinventing Committee.
“I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work in all these policy areas during the new year,” Robertson said. “I’m confident we can make Michigan a place that businesses long to call home. I can’t wait.”
