State Sen. Patrick Colbeck has introduced legislation that would create a Right to Life (RTL) license plate designation.
With 23 of the state’s 38 senators cosponsoring the legislation, Colbeck, R-Canton, introduced Senate Bill 368, which is a fundraising license plate recognizing the importance of promoting life. The secretary of state along with RTL-Michigan, will be responsible for designing the plate.
“In 1776, our Founding Fathers boldly declared that life is one of our unalienable rights. In today’s society, it is more important than ever to boldly defend this right to life on behalf of those unable to defend themselves,” said Colbeck. “Right to Life of Michigan has been defending life for over 41 years. I am happy to see that their efforts to protect life will be supported by the purchase of these plates.”
The proceeds received from the purchase of the plates upon license renewal will help benefit RTL-Michigan.
The measure was referred to the Senate Committee on Government Operations.
