LANSING — State Sen. Dave Robertson, R-Grand Blanc Twp., announced today that he will host a forum on how to appeal property tax assessments. The March 2 meeting is free and open to the public.

“During this tax season, some residents may find it confusing or difficult to appeal their property tax assessments,” said Robertson. “It is important that taxpayers are informed so they can avoid common and costly mistakes. I have held similar forums in the past and they have been beneficial for those attending. I encourage everyone that might be interested to join us.”

The free forum is a joint effort with state Representative Gail Haines and Mark Avery, an attorney and tax expert. It will feature discussion on methods of appeal and common mistakes to avoid. Area taxpayers are encouraged to ask questions during the event.

The forum is scheduled as follows:

Wednesday, March 2
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Waterford Senior Center
3621 Pontiac Lake Rd.
Waterford, MI 48328

For those who are unable to attend, information will be available through Robertson’s office by calling his office toll free at 1-866-305-2126, or e-mailing SenDRobertson@senate.michigan.gov.
