Jones recognized by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility for his leadership and tireless efforts
LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Rick Jones was recognized on Monday by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org) as a recipient of its 2016 Leadership Awards.
Responsibility.org is a national not-for-profit that leads the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking and is funded by America’s leading distillers.
“State troopers need every tool available to make Michigan’s roads safer,” said Jones, R-Grand Ledge. “By testing the saliva of suspected drugged drivers, law enforcement can keep dangerous drivers off our roads. While only a pilot program now, I hope this program will become permanent and spread throughout Michigan. It is an honor to receive this award from Responsibility.org — a trusted partner in fighting impaired driving.”
Now in its 12th year, Responsibility.org’s Leadership Awards recognize state legislators for strong leadership in preventing impaired driving and underage drinking.
“Michigan has made great progress this year in the fight against drugged and drunk driving and we are honored to work alongside state Senator Jones, who has been integral to this fight,” said Ralph Blackman, president and CEO of Responsibility.org. “For the last 25 years, we have led the charge against impaired driving and underage drinking, but we would not be nearly as successful without the help of state officials, who strive to introduce new legislation that will help keep impaired drivers off the road and reduce the prevalence of underage drinking.”
