LANSING, Mich. — Students at Andrews Academy in Berrien Springs talked with Sen. John Proos on Friday about community involvement, service to others and Constitution Day, which is this Saturday, Sept. 17.
“I would like to thank the students for the lively discussion today and for inviting me to meet with them and talk about the importance of community service in all of our lives,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “It is important to celebrate that drive in the young people of today, and what better occasion than the anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.”
Proos recently joined with colleagues in sponsoring a bipartisan Senate resolution designating “Michigan Patriot Week.” The week runs from Sept. 11 through Constitution Day and is intended to celebrate the America’s founding principles and the patriots who acted and often died to establish and defend the greatest country on Earth.
Proos said he enjoys meeting students and discussing how the local, state and federal systems work and the vital role that citizens play in the process.
