LANSING — State Sen. Arlan B. Meekhof, R-West Olive, announced today that he will host a forum on how to appeal property tax assessments. The meeting is free and open to the public.
“Property taxes and the process of appealing those assessments can be confusing, so it is important for residents to arm themselves with the right information,” said Meekhof. “I conducted similar forums in the past and those meetings proved beneficial to taxpayers that attended. I am happy to continue this important discussion as state senator, and encourage the public to join us.”
The free forum is being put on in conjunction with the Tri-Cities Tea Party of West Michigan. It will feature discussion on methods of appeal and common mistakes to avoid. Area taxpayers are encouraged to ask questions during the event.
The forum is scheduled as follows:
Tuesday, Jan. 11
Grand Haven Community Center
421 Columbus Avenue
Grand Haven, MI 49417
For those who are unable to attend, information will be available through Meekhof’s office by calling toll free 1- 866-305-2130 or e-mailing SenAMeekhof@senate.michigan.gov.
