LANSING—Sen. Mike Kowall, R-White Lake, on Wednesday received the 2014 Legislative Leadership Award from the Michigan Soft Drink Association (MSDA).
The award is presented to members of the Legislature who demonstrate commitment, leadership, effectiveness and stewardship on behalf of good public policy for Michigan’s residents and the soft drink industry.
“I am honored to receive the Legislative Leadership Award,” Kowall said. “In our efforts to help job providers create and retain jobs, we are grateful to these critical partners for their unwavering commitment to Michigan. I will continue working with the Michigan Soft Drink Association on behalf of the people of Michigan to fuel our comeback.”
Michigan is leading the nation in manufacturing job growth and is seeing rising personal income, home sales and home values. The MSDA noted Michigan’s unemployment rate is now at 7.4 percent—the lowest rate since 2008.
The association commended Kowall for his work in creating a business-friendly environment.
“Senator Mike Kowall has done tremendous work positioning Michigan to once again be economically competitive,” said MSDA President and CEO Bill Lobenherz. “I appreciate the hard work and leadership Senator Kowall has provided and will continue to provide.”
