LANSING, Mich. — After listening to the governor’s 2016 State of the State address Tuesday night, Sen. Jim Stamas, R-Midland, issued the following statement:
“Governor Snyder outlined a plan of action to build on our positive achievements and to meet our challenges. We must continue to focus on solutions for not only the issues facing the residents of Flint, but for all of Michigan.
“Under the governor’s leadership, we’ve faced tough challenges in Michigan and worked together to solve them. We balanced a $1.5 billion budget deficit, increased state spending on education to record levels, reduced our debt, energized our economy and helped create more than 420,000 private sector jobs.
“It’s a good record of achievement, yet we have a lot of work to do.
“I look forward to working with the governor to help improve government at all levels by making it more effective and accountable. I also look forward to hearing from the people of the 36th District about their priorities for 2016.”
