LANSING— State Sen. Mike Green, R-Mayville, today commented on a recent announcement from the Fitch Ratings agency. The firm updated Michigan’s bond rating outlook from stable to positive, reaffirming the state’s General Obligation Credit Rating of AA-.
“The upgrade of Michigan’s bond rating outlook is just one signal that we are getting back on track. It is an encouraging recognition of the bold reforms and tough decisions we have made in just the first half of this year. These reforms have brought long-term stability to our budget while transforming Michigan into a pro-jobs state. As ratings agencies ponder downgrading the national credit rating, they’ve clearly said that this state is headed in the right direction. I am confident that Michigan will once again achieve a AAA credit rating and I will work hard to make it happen.”
