LANSING— Sen. Judy Emmons welcomed Portland High School Cheer Team Coach Linda Fox and representatives from the team to the Michigan Senate on Thursday. The team was recognized by Emmons during session for their outstanding efforts in making the wishes come true for Julia Sullivan, of Omaha, Nebraska.
Last year, the remarkable group of young ladies partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to offer Sullivan a spot on their cheerleading team. Sullivan was born without arms and legs, but with the encouragement and support from the team, her cheerleading dreams came true.
“It is truly remarkable to see such compassion from our young people,” said Emmons, R- Sheridan. “It was an honor to have representatives from their team join me on the Senate floor today.”
