LANSING — State Sen. Judy Emmons will host Jim McBryde at a Breakfast Club speaker series event in Mt. Pleasant on Monday. McBryde is vice president of governmental affairs for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and a Central Michigan University graduate.
McBryde was elected in 1990 to the Michigan House of Representatives where he served the 99th District for eight years before retiring due to term limits. He received the “CMU Centennial Award” in 1992 and was recognized as one of CMU’s 100 most distinguished alumni. McBryde has served in his current role under governors Granholm and Snyder. In 2008, he was awarded the first ever Distinguished Service Award by the MEDC Executive Committee in recognition of his work to help turn Michigan’s economy around.
“I invite mid-Michigan residents to come listen to Mt. Pleasant’s own Jim McBryde as part of the continuing Breakfast Club speaker series,” said Emmons, R-Sheridan. “I am sponsoring this series to allow area residents a chance to hear from their public officials about important state issues. Jim has extensive experience with economic development, and I encourage everyone to come learn about what the state is doing to help create jobs.”
McBryde will be speaking on Monday, March 26 at Central Michigan University’s Park Library in the upstairs staff lounge. The library is located at 250 E. Preston St. in Mt. Pleasant.
The event runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m. A continental breakfast will be offered at no cost and all residents are welcome to attend.
Space is limited, so please RSVP at 734-748-8810.
The Speaker Series for the Breakfast Club includes two more events at CMU’s Park Library. On Monday, April 16, Michigan Chamber of Commerce members Tricia Kinley and Wendy Block will speak. The final event is Monday, April 30 with Jenifer Esch, a Consumer Programs administrator for the Michigan attorney general’s office. Both events begin at 7:30 a.m.
