LANSING?State Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, issued the following statement on Wednesday after Gov. Rick Snyder delivered his State of the State address:
“The governor stepped forward with a positive plan of action to continue the building of a better Michigan – one with more jobs and opportunities.
“I appreciated the governor’s focus on preparing our children for the jobs of tomorrow and matching the state’s great talent with available jobs.
“Technical education and training can offer students access to a rewarding career in fields struggling to fill job openings and can help our honorable veterans find work. The unemployment rate among our veterans is unacceptable. They sacrificed to protect our freedoms and we owe them our total support.
“Our farmers know that this governor understands the importance of agriculture to Michigan’s economy, and I look forward to working with him to help struggling farmers recover from a tough year so that they can continue to provide the quality of food our citizens expect.
“We achieved much during the past two years, including creating a climate for job creation that has already resulted in positive job growth for two consecutive years. Michigan is heading in the right direction, but as long as there are people looking for work, there is more to do. Our hardworking Michigan residents deserve opportunities, and that remains my number-one priority.”
