LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Wayne Schmidt on Tuesday was awarded the Commanders Commendation Award by officials from Michigan Wing, the state of Michigan’s branch of the Civil Air Patrol.
“I am both honored and humbled to be recognized by such an outstanding group of volunteers,” said Schmidt, R-Traverse City. “Michigan Wing along with other Civil Air Patrol branches nationwide provide crucial services in numerous fields including cadet education and emergency management. It was my pleasure to ensure they received adequate funding in the fiscal year 2018 budget to continue providing these services.”
Schmidt along with Sen. Mike Nofs were honored by Michigan Wing for their work securing funding for the Civil Air Patrol’s 2018 budget.
