LANSING—Sen. Dave Robertson, R-Grand Blanc, received the “Healthcare Worker Safety” award on Wednesday from the International Sharps Injury Prevention Society (ISIPS) and StaffandPatientSafety.org for his work in crafting Senate Resolution 46.
SR 46 was introduced to bring awareness to the use of safety scalpels and syringes that are either covered or retract to protect against unnecessary injury or chances of being exposed to an illness.
“This is about preventing hospital staff, who work hard to keep us healthy, from being exposed to unnecessary risks and illnesses,” said Robertson, one of the sponsors of the resolution. “I am honored to receive this award and want to express my appreciation for the many hours of hard work that were put in by so many people to help craft this important resolution.”
