LANSING—Sen. John Proos on Tuesday reminded Southwest Michigan residents that job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through a virtual career fair on Wednesday.

The first of Pure Michigan Talent Connect’s virtual career fairs will take place Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed to bring together employers and talent from across the state and the globe in an online, virtual environment.

“Our economy is growing here in Southwest Michigan and across our state and this virtual career fair offers a high-tech opportunity for workers to connect with employers who are looking to fill positions in a wide range of fields – from manufacturing to finance to health care,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “This virtual fair will be the largest one yet – with more than 345 jobs available with 50 Michigan employers. I encourage anyone in Southwest Michigan who is looking for work or who is seeking a new career to participate in this online career fair.”

There is no cost for job seekers to participate. Registration information can be found at www.mitalent.org/virtualcareerfair. During the virtual event, job seekers can explore customized employer booths, interact one-on-one with participating employers and search and apply for job opportunities.

“Although the main focus is on connecting workers to jobs, the fair also allows job seekers to access information about career development programs and resources,” Proos said “In addition, veterans will be able to connect with Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency staff to learn more about veterans benefits in Michigan.”

For those unable to participate in the Feb. 11 fair, similar events are scheduled this year for May 13, Aug. 12 and Nov. 4.
