LANSING—Sen. John Proos on Monday presented a special tribute to the students of St. Joseph High School for their continued recognition as one of the best schools in the country.

Newsweek ranked the school on its national list of America’s Top Schools. It is the third consecutive year the school has been ranked for its high test scores, college readiness and amount of advanced placement courses offered.

“I applaud the efforts of the St. Joseph High School administration, teachers and students for achieving this national recognition for the third year in a row,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph. “The school’s academic success is an impressive accomplishment and a testament to the hard work of the students and their educators. Southwest Michigan is blessed to have such an excellent school dedicated to the success of their students.”

Proos presented the tribute to students of Gary Etter’s American civics class and addressed the students about the Ebola outbreak, what is good and bad about his job and discussed the political process and the benefits of it to voters.

The tribute was signed by Proos; Gov. Rick Snyder; U.S. Rep. Fred Upton; and Rep. Al Pscholka, R-Stevensville.
